Bourbon GOP Holds Convention To Fill Offices

Posted

BOURBON - One hundred eleven registered Republicans living within the Bourbon town limits gathered in convention Sept. 9 to fill three seats in town government. The convention method of selection was used over a general election because there was no opposition from the Democrats for any of the offices.

Incumbent Jacqualine Murphy received 89 votes to 22 cast for her opponent, Marilyn Niswonger. Incumbent Larry Wattenbarger, running for his first elected term, received 106 votes; newcomer Donna Wagoner received 72; and incumbent Ken Keller Sr. received 37 votes. Keller was not present for the vote.

Council candidate Gary Eads was disqualified before the meeting began because of residency requirements. He did not stay for the remainder of the meeting.

Republican county chairman David Holmes was present along with Republican township chairman Gary Buday.
