Police have confirmed that the body found in a beanfield in Kosciusko County Friday is that of missing teen Lara Saykosy.
Saykosy, 19, of Leesburg, had been missing since June 27, when she walked away from her home at Whispering Pines Trailer Park near Leesburg.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Chad Hill located the body of a female shortly after noon Friday in a bean field south of Leesburg about 40 yards off Old 15. An Indiana State Police aircraft had spotted the body from the air and officers were sent to the location to investigate.
Kosciusko County Deputy Coroner Larry Ladd and detectives from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department took the body to Fort Wayne where an autopsy was performed this weekend.
According to Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler, the body was positively identified as Saykosy by using dental records.
Sadler said Saykosy's cause of death is still being investigated pending toxicology and the forensic pathologist results.
