WINONA LAKE – Winona Lake Town Council President John Boal submitted his resignation at the end of Tuesday night’s council meeting. Boal, who was elected to the Ward 2 seat in January 2012, was elected vice president at that time, and council president in January 2013. Boal said he is resigning because he began a new job March 1 as vice president of advancement at College of Biblical Studies in Houston, Texas. Boal said he mailed his resignation letter to Randy Girod, Kosciusko County Republican chairman, Tuesday night. A caucus will need to be held to fill the vacancy, said Craig Allebach, Winona Lake town coordinator. Boal is a 1984 Grace College graduate and served full time in the college’s Office of Advancement from 1999 to 2012. In October 2012, Boal resigned as director of advancement at Grace College. Boal said his son and daughter will finish out their school year at Warsaw Community High School and then the family will move to Texas. “The last 14 years of living in our community have brought about many exciting changes and I would be remiss if I did not say thank you to several people,” Boal said. He thanked Grace College and Dr. Ron Manahan, Denny Duncan and the staff at Jefferson Elementary School, Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller, Suzie Light, Kosciusko County Community Foundation executive director, and Rich Haddad, K21 Foundation president, for their investments in Winona Lake. “I am pleased to have had the opportunity to live, work, and serve the people of Winona Lake as councilman and I wish you continued success and growth,” Boal said.
