Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department was called to the scene of a Warsaw duplex Friday night after a report of the structure fully engulfed in fire. Firefighters responded at 11:13 p.m. to a duplex at 1031 E. Smith St., north of Lakeview Middle School. Winona Lake and Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Departments and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Multi Township EMS also responded. American Red Cross was called to the scene to aid a family of five displaced from one of the duplexes by the fire. There was no immediate confirmation of injuries, but the Kosciusko County Coroner was called to the scene. A female neighbor who lived across the street and wished to remain anonymous said the entire duplex was engulfed in flames, and flames were shooting up into the sky. Approximately 35 firefighers were on the scene. Further information was unavailable at press time.
