Blanket Auction To Raise Funds For Goat BarnThree families have come together to create a blanket that will be auctioned of to raise money for the goat barn at the Kosciusko County Fair.

An Angora goat, the only one in the county, belongs to the McComb family.

Crystal McComb, a 10-year 4-H member, won the only grand champion prize with the Angora goat according to Lisa Truman who sheered the goat in 2000.In 2008, Kevin Slone approached Truman to make a blanket out of the mohair.

Mohair comes from Angora goats.

"The goat committee has been doing a silent auction to pay off our goat barn," said Slone. "We decided to do something out of mohair to have an all goat product."

Truman spun it while Slone wove the blanket.

Nearly 40 hours of work were put into spinning and weaving the blanket.

Truman's daughter, Claire is doing the embellishing on the blanket.

The blanket currently is a part of a silent auction which runs until Thursday evening.

"If this blanket were for sale it'd sell for $300 to $400," said Slone.

The proceeds will go back to the goat barn.
