Biomet recently announced fourth quarter and fiscal year 2010 preliminary net sales results and it shows an increase of net sales by 10 percent.
Net sales for the Warsaw-based orthopedic company increased to $703 million worldwide and increased 8 percent in the United States.
Other numbers of note released in Biomet's report are:
n Reconstructive sales, excluding dental, increased 13 percent worldwide, with 11 percent U.S. growth.
n Knee sales increased 15 percent worldwide and grew at a rate of 11 percent in the U.S.
n Hip sales increased 10 percent worldwide, with growth of 8 percent in the U.S.
n Extremity sales increased 35 percent worldwide and increased 48 percent in the U.S.
n Net sales increased 10 percent to $702.5 million during the fourth fiscal quarter that ended May 31 from $639.3 million during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2009.
n U.S. sales increased 8 percent during the fourth quarter to $423.2 million; Europe sales increased 4 percent to $186.4 million; and international (primarily Canada, South America, Mexico and the Pacific Rim) sales grew 36 percent to $92.9 million.
n Reconstructive product sales increased 12 percent worldwide and increased 11 percent in the United States during the fourth quarter.
n During the fourth quarter, knee sales increased 15 percent worldwide and increased 11 percent in the U.S. Hip sales increased 10 percent worldwide during the fourth quarter and grew 8 percent in the U.S.
n Extremity sales increased 35 percent worldwide, with a growth rate of 48 percent in the U.S. during the fourth quarter.
n Dental reconstructive device sales increased 4 percent worldwide during the fourth quarter with growth of 4 percent in the U.S.
n Spine sales increased 1 percent worldwide during the fourth quarter and increased 1 percent in the U.S. During the fourth quarter, spinal stimulation sales growth was positive, while sales decreased for the spine hardware and orthobiologics product category.
