Their T-shirts tell you that "happiness is yelling bingo," and that's just one indication that bingo players take their game seriously.
But for one bingo fan, the happiness ended when a fellow player failed to follow through on sharing her winnings.
Josephine Clevenger recently filed a lawsuit against Faye Manns in Kosciusko Superior Court I. Manns won $10,000 Aug. 15 after Clevenger agreed to pay her bingo costs in consideration for 50 percent of any winnings. Manns apparently agreed to the deal and has since reneged, according to court documents.
Clevenger, who organizes bingo package trips to various states, contacted Manns Aug. 14 regarding a trip. Manns told Clevenger that she wanted to play, but didn't have the required fees. The two women then reportedly agreed that if Manns paid the $30 cost of her motel room, then Clevenger would cover the costs of the bus trip and bingo costs if Manns shared half of any winnings with Clevenger.
After Manns won the $10,000, Clevenger amended the agreement, reducing the amount owed to $3,000 instead of half of Manns' earnings. Manns reportedly paid Clevenger $500, but has failed to give her the $2,500 balance.
Clevenger is seeking a judgment of $3,000, plus court costs and attorney fees. Amber L. Blackford of Blackford Law Office, Warsaw, is Clevenger's attorney.
