Big Brothers Big Sisters is launching the “BIG 300 Dash!” Recruitment Campaign to increase adult mentors throughout the community. The campaign begins Monday and goes through Aug. 12. There will be a Campaign Kick-Off event on Monday at The Holiday Inn Express, 3825 Lake City Highway, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for volunteers and individuals who would like to become a “BIG”.This campaign is targeting everyone in the community especially current Big Brothers or Big Sisters to refer a family member or friend into the program. There is a campaign drawing for the current and newly enrolled Bigs. Each time a Big refers a friend and an interview is scheduled, the Big receives an entry for the grand prizes, which consist of Indianapolis Colts tickets, Brad Miller Gala and Auction tickets and gas cards. The grand prize drawing will be held in mid-August. Since opening its doors in 1972, Big Brothers Big Sisters has continued to reach out into the community to make a positive impact in the lives of children. In 2010, the work and commitment of its donors and volunteers made it possible to help children by supporting them in more than 1,600 one-to-one matches. However, there are still more than 600 young adolescence still waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister – 33 in Kosciusko County. The organization’s mission is to recruit more mentors to help children reach their full potential, resulting in better, brighter futures for them and our communities”.
