A bicyclist was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital Friday night after receiving a head injury. Officers did not release the name, age or other information of the bicyclist as of Friday night. According to Clay Layne, Warsaw Police Department patrolman, the bicyclist was traveling on Morton Street to Winona Avenue, Warsaw, at 2:15 p.m. when he hit his brakes and the pedal broke off his bike. According to a witness, the bicyclist went to the ground and the handlebars went over his head. He hit his head on the pavement and he lay in the road, Layne said. Warsaw Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene, as well as Lutheran EMS. He was transported by Lutheran to Kosciusko Community Hospital with head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. Layne said the bicycle was not damaged and no cars were involved in the accident.
