An Osceola man is listed in fair condition at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, today after a minivan hit his bicycle Saturday morning.

Mark T. Fedder, Osceola, and Rob Gunderman, Granger, were riding bicycles on U.S. 30 when they were hit by a minivan, driven by Jose O. Nunez, 28, Warsaw, around 11:32 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Nunez was northbound on CR 800W in a 1997 Chevrolet minivan when he allegedly ran a stop sign and hit the two cyclists, who were eastbound side by side off the south side of the travel portion of U.S. 30.

Fedder was thrown from his bicycle, hit the windshield of the van, and was knocked in front of the van. Fedder was run over by the same van.

Fedder was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, then airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne by the Samaritan Air Ambulance. Fedder, a Mishawaka Police officer, suffered a broken leg.

Gunderman also was hit by the van, but was not run over by the vehicle. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Nunez and two passengers in the van did not suffer any injuries.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Multi-Township EMS, Etna Green first responders and Atwood Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation.
