Bicycle Enthusiasts Participate In Fat, Skinny Tire Festival

WINONA LAKE – Hundreds of bicyclists participated in the annual Fat and Skinny Tire Festival in Winona Lake Saturday and Sunday. Bicyclists competed Saturday in the Do Indiana Off Road series bike competition. Finnly O’Neil, 16, Muncie, did the 20-mile bike ride. “I enjoy having a lot of competition. You can compete with them in the race and then afterwards group ride with them,” O’Neil said. Lily Peck, 14, and her father, Ty Peck, 45, competed in Saturday’s race. Lily said it is her third year for competing. “I like being out there riding and the variety of races,” Lily said. Ty said it was his fifth year for participating and he did the 30-mile ride. “I love being in the woods. It’s a cool town,” Ty said. Max Tenclay, 29, Chicago, said it was his third year for doing the race and did the 20-mile race. “I enjoy the variety of races and the mountain biking and road-friendly races,” Tenclay said. Gregory Dyas, 41, Indianapolis, did the 10-mile race. “I like the variety of races and the rooty and sandy trail,” Dyas said.
