SYRACUSE – The 21st annual Beaman Home Golf Outing took place Monday at South Shore Golf Course in Syracuse. There were 80 golfers who participated and enjoyed lunch by Bib's Backyard Barbecue prior to the scramble’s start. The event netted more than $9,200 for the Beaman Home's operational funds. K21 Health Foundation's team placed first and received certificates, a dozen golf balls and a gift certificate for 18 holes at Rozella Ford Golf Course. Members were Rich Haddad (captain), Kevin Haines, Matt Dick and Tad Nieter. The second place team was sponsored by Bartel Printing with Murry Bartel (captain), Kevin Carter, Dan Chance and Mike Lalonde. That team received certificates, golf caps and a gift certificate for 18 holes at Little Big Horn Golf Course. The Miller’s Merry Manor team placed third, receiving certificates. Team members were Jason Hill (captain), Al Grossnickle Jr., Bryan Zehr and Troy Clemens. Contest winners included hole five Closest-to-the-Pin: Men – Kevin Carter and Women – Mary Grace Craig. Longest Drive on hole 4 was made by Fred Rowland and Amanda Fretz. Each of those winners received a dozen golf balls. On hole 14, Closest-to-the-Pin receiving a $50 gift card at Bobick's Golf in Fort Wayne was Murray Bartel. Chris Wiggins had the Longest Putt and received half of the contest's entry fee. Lakeside Chevrolet sponsored the Hole-in-One Contest but there was no winner. The Bowen Center sponsored a hole and operated the RC Car Challenge during the scramble. This allowed teams (for a fee) to take the remote- controlled truck down the fairway for a predetermined number of seconds. Wherever the truck stopped at the end of that time was the location where the team teed off. That challenge raised $425.
