Staff Report-
Beacon Credit Union is donating $1,750 to three charitable organizations in Kosciusko County through a community contest called Project Spotlight.
Project Spotlight 2012 began in April when Beacon asked for community members from Kosciusko County to nominate charitable organizations they felt deserved funding gifts.
In July the organization narrowed the list of nominees down to three finalists and in August and September community members voted for their favorite project either online or in bank branches.
Both Beacon and the finalists promoted the contest to community members and there were almost 300 community members who participated in the voting process.
Voting ended Sept. 30.
The winners are: first place, Boomerang Backpacks, $1,000; second place, Young Tiger Football $500; and third place, Lifetouch Ministries, $250.
There will be a check presentation for the winners at the Beacon Credit Union branch in Warsaw at 2514 E. Center St. Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.
