Kosciusko County Chief Deputy Treasurer Cindy Nolton announced Friday that six area banks will accept 2008 tax payments beginning today through the close of business June 11.
State certified tax rates have not been received, and the county has chosen to send out a voluntary payment option at this time to aid local government units in receiving funds for the services they provide. There is no due date and no penalty for not paying the VPO statement. Tax bill statements mailed later in the year will credit any voluntary payments made at this time. Although the requests for payment have no deadline, Nolton said, the county is asking for payments by mid June.
Participating banks are Campbell & Fetter Bank, Crossroads Bank, Farmers State Bank, Lake City Bank, Mutual Federal Savings Bank, National City Bank and Tower Bank.
Tax payments can be made in one of several ways: at one of the participating banks, by mail or in person at the treasurer's office in the courthouse. Also, tax payments using a credit or debit card can be made by calling 800-809-5849 or by visiting www.kosciuskotax.net There is a service fee by the vendor for paying online.
