Amy Riley from Warsaw Community High School was awarded this year’s Helene R. Foellinger Award for Excellence in Economic Education. Over the past 11 years, Riley has had 103 JA programs in her classroom, hosting both the JA Economics program and the online JA Titan simulation. According to her JA business volunteers, Riley demonstrates a tremendous passion for educating students about economics. She does not rely uniquely on the textbook, but instead strives to enhance learning with hands-on activities, real-world analysis, and current event discussions, among others. Troy Akers, principal at WCHS, noted that, “Mrs. Riley is a servant leader who has dedicated her time, talents and treasures to empower her students at Warsaw Community High School. Her involvement in JA has spanned several years and the partnership is very strong. I could not think of anyone with more passion, pride and desire to partner with JA and make this learning opportunity one that students remember for a lifetime.” These Awards were presented May 1 at the 28th Annual Junior Achievement Educator Enrichment Conference in Fort Wayne.
