The Board of Aviation Commissioners Tuesday afternoon approved the sale of a hangar and the purchase of a fuel truck. Hangar No. 30, currently owned by Alan Cuthbert, will be sold to John Yingling for $85,000. The board also approved the purchase of a 1995 Ford 1,200-gallon 100LL truck. The truck will cost the board $2,609.65 for 12 months. The price of transportation of the truck, which is located in Alabama, is not included, and freight is estimated to be $3,000. The truck was refurbished in 2013 and will replace the 31-year-old truck the airport currently owns. Total cost including shipping for the truck would be $34,315.80. The board will use World Fuel to purchase the truck and the company will finance at 0 percent and build the price into the airport’s fuel loads. Cost will pass through to airport customers and the price of fuel per gallon will increase 5 cents, though airport manager Nick King said the airport will remain extremely competitive with surrounding airports. In other news, the board discussed a land aquisition offer for $475,000 to be sent to the land owner this week. Once the offer is received by the owner, the owner then has 30 days to accept, reject or counter-offer. The board also stated the grant offer for guidance sign installation is still under review. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21 at 5:15 p.m.
