Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
At 8:07 p.m. Monday, two gas station clerks working at Pride Gas Station, Syracuse, were reportedly forced to hand over the contents of two cash registers to an armed robber.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken when a man entered the store, brandishing a black, medium-framed semi-automatic handgun. The suspect allegedly grabbed one store clerk by the arm and directed her to the registers; the second woman followed. Holding the women at gunpoint, he reportedly made them empty both machines, down to the loose change, and give it to him.
According to witness statements made to Kosciusko County Sheriff's deputies, the man talked to the women while they emptied the registers, telling them he was robbing the store because he had no money and needed some.
Before fleeing the scene, they said, the man commented to the women that the store has insurance.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his early 20s. He is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 165 pounds, with short brown hair and brown or hazel eyes.
