Argument Over Meth Leads To Pushing, Choking, Charge Of Domestic Battery ChargeA Leesburg man was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly pushing and choking his girlfriend when she confronted him about a methamphetamine pipe in November.

Dakota Preston Crace, 26, of 6948 E. May Lane, Leesburg, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:35 p.m. Thursday for domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. His preliminary bond was set at $1,000.

According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department report filed with the courts, at about 9:04 p.m. Nov. 12 a woman contacted the KCSD regarding a battery.

She said she had been living with her boyfriend – Crace – on May Lane for about two years. She said she was going through a drawer at the home and found a methamphetamine pipe and confronted Crace about it.

She said Crace had not used methamphetamine that she knew of for several years. She said they argued for a while and then she began packing to leave the home.

The victim said Crace began to get more upset and flipped the kitchen table, which her phone was sitting on. She said Crace came over to her and pushed her backward. She was upset and began feeling sick so she went to the bathroom. While she was in there, Crace came to apologize and asked her not to leave. She told him she was still going to leave and he pushed her into the bath tub.

The victim said she was able to pack a bag and began to leave. When she told Crace she was leaving, he pushed her back against a dog cage and told her that she wasn’t leaving. The report said Crace grabbed the victim’s neck and it was painful, but he did not restrict her breathing. She hit him in the groin to get away, and went out to her vehicle and drove to her parents’ home where she called KCSD.

She had a large bruise on the right side of her neck that looked like four fingers and a small bruise on her left side of her neck that looked like a thumb print, the report states.

A no-contact order was entered on Nov. 26.
