And while there has been more than 4,600 toys taken in this year, there is a need for a lot more for Combined Community Services' Annual Toy Drive and Giveaway.
Ami Pitt, volunteer toy coordinator for CCS, is asking members of the community to bring in toys for donation or for consignment today and Friday.
Toys will be collected for both until 9 p.m. tonight and between 9 and 10 a.m. Friday.
Pitt said when toys are brought in for consignment, 50 percent goes to the seller while the other 50 percent is used to buy more toys for children in need. Those toys go toward CCS' Toy Giveaway.
The public toy sale is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Home and Family Arts Building at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.
"The toys coming in for sale have been a lot slower," said Pitt. "We also want people to know we do accept donated toys and donations as well."
Pitt has been involved with the giveaway for 17 years, and the toy sale for 15 years.
"A lot of people have said it's been slow because of the economy," said Pitt.
More information on some of the items up for sale at this weekend's event will be featured in Friday's edition of the Times-Union.
