Posted
Life-long Kosciusko County resident Jack Anglin has been chosen to serve as the grand marshal of the Mizpah Shrine Parade in downtown Warsaw Friday.
The half-hour parade begins at 8:30 p.m.
The parade route is at the corner of Market and Columbia streets to the corner of Market and High streets, High Street to Center Street, and Center Street to Columbia Street.
Anglin is the co-founder of the Clunette Elevator, and a member of the Clunette United Methodist Church.
He has two sons, John H. Anglin Jr. and Neal Anglin; two daughters, Beth Cooper and Sarah Payton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Anglin is a World War II Army veteran that served in Germany. As a sergeant in command of a gun squad in a cannon company, his unit held their position when confronted by Battle of the Bulge units. They eventually made history by being the first unit to cross the Remagen Bridge.
As a 56-year member and past president of the Kosciusko County Shrine Club, he has served as a member of the Mizpah Shrine Foot Patrol and the Mizpah Shrine Color Guard.
His involvement with those units took him around the country to participate in parades. He also served as chairman of the Kosciusko County Shrine Hospital Committee, and he has provided transportation for patients to and from Chicago.
His business dealings and friendships in the Amish community have put him in the position of being able to serve as a liaison between the Mizpah Shrine and Amish families that require the services of the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
As a trusted friend and advisor, he is able to allay the anxieties that parents might have about entrusting the transportation and care of their children to strangers.
Sometimes driving as many as 180 miles in an afternoon, Jack also serves as a volunteer driver for the Red Cross on Amish Blood Bank Day. On the fourth Tuesday of every month he will pick up Amish blood donors and transport them to and from the collection site.
Some of his other activities include being a charter member and past president of the Atwood Lions Club, past board member and president of the Kosciusko County 4-H Community Fair Board and former president of the Indiana Grain and Feed Board.
He is a member of the Warsaw Rotary Club, and has achieved the Paul Harris Fellow designation.
