Dexter Lee Anglin,18, the teenage driver of the vehicle that crashed on CR 100N, east of Warsaw, on May 26, killing Tara Janae Likens, will be tried as an adult for reckless homicide in Kosciusko Superior Court III.

Anglin was charged July 1, but the hearing to try him as an adult was held Wednesday. He turned 18 on June 25.

Anglin, who was 17 at the time of the crimes he is being charged with, also is charged in juvenile court with driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing death, a C felony, and four counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing serious bodily injury, D felonies, for the May 26 crash.

For a separate incident at the Warsaw Community High School graduation ceremony June 6, Anglin is charged with public intoxication, a Class C misdemeanor, and possession of more than 30 grams of marijauna, a Class A misdemeanor.

In a third incident on June 16, where Anglin was reportedly caught drag racing and allegedly registered .25 on a portable breathalyzer test, he is charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, a Class C misdemeanor.

At the time of the May 26 accident, Anglin reportedly lost control of his car after hitting a road bump at a speed estimated by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department at between 91 and 108 miles per hour. He and all five passengers were ejected from the vehicle and were treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital. Tara Likens, 19, North Webster, was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she died the next day from her injuries.

Toxicology reports for Anglin showed marijuana in his bloodstream at the time of the accident.

Anglin was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Wednesday, immediately after the reckless homicide charge was waived to Superior Court III, with a $10,000 surety bond. The Kosciusko County prosecutor's office is attempting to get all charges moved to adult court.
