Looking to grow its membership in Indiana, a luncheon was held Wednesday by Americans For Prosperity at the St. Regis Club in Warsaw.
An Indiana chapter of the group was formed last fall.
Chase Downham, state director for Indiana, was on hand Wednesday to talk to people about the group.
Founded in part by conservative brothers David and Charles Koch of Koch Industries, Americans For Prosperity is an issues-based organization.
Downham talked to about 15 St. Regis Club members with the title of the talk being “Indiana On Track.”
Downham said there are about 25,000 activists in the state and that the group has solid membership in Kosciusko County.
Wednesday’s talk focused on issues like school choice and Right To Work legislation.
Downham said that the state chapter is focused on state issues and will not endorse candidates.
“We’re about economic freedom,” said Downham.
And while Downham said the group considers the TEA Party an “important ally”, unlike the TEA Party, Americans For Prosperity don’t take up social issues.
Downham said field coordinators work throughout the state, and that more events are planned for the area in the future.
