The club chose Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park at 3699 N. CR 175E, Warsaw, as the location. The Little Free Library can be found near the playground.
This is the second Little Free Library placed by the Altrusa Club. The first library was placed in August 2024. It is located at Fairlane Estates, 1202 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, according to a provided news release.
Altrusa International Foundation Inc. is a humanitarian philanthropic organization whose mission is to empower Altrusans in providing effective local community service programs. In 1977, Altrusa became the first volunteer service group to adopt literacy as the focus of its community activities.
The Foundation assists local clubs in reaching their goals to promote literacy by providing monetary assistance. Grant submissions are accepted twice a year from over 120 clubs worldwide. Grants range from $250 to $2.000 and are subject to specific selection criteria.
The Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization based in St Paul, Minn. Their mission is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers and expanding book access for all through a global network of Little Free Library book-exchange boxes. Their mission and Altrusa’s mission fit together perfectly, the release states.
Patrons and children of both mobile home parks are encouraged to take a book, read a book and share a book. Altrusa members will monitor the libraries and restock as needed. Community members are also welcome to place books in either Little Free Library.
