Allowing Christ To Shine Group Plans Golf Outing Fundraiser For Haiti

Posted
A Christian organization whose mission is to help children in Haiti will hold a golfing fundraiser Tuesday at Raccoon Run.
The fundraiser is to raise money to build drinking wells for children in Haiti.
The cost to register is $60 per person, $240 per team with the golf cart included, and there is a $100 fee for a business or family who wants to sponsor a hole and tee.
There will be an unlimited driving range at 11:30 a.m., registration and lunch at noon, and a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Clark Shepherd, founder of Allowing Christ To Shine,  came up with the idea for the fundraiser.
The non-profit organization’s mission is to look after the spiritual, physical and educational well being of children in Haiti.
Shepherd started the organization in January. He previously served as disaster relief coordinator for World Compassion Network.
“We believe providing shelter, education, food, teaching the word of God and showing God’s love will transform their lives in Haiti and transform their community,” Shepherd said.
He said he was first exposed to the suffering and poverty of the world first hand in 2008 when he traveled to Honduras with a mission team.
In 2010, he responded to the earthquake in Haiti.
“I saw many children who were not eating, had no shelter, and no access to education or church,” Shepherd said.
He said there was an orphanage that was destroyed by the earthquake, and 10 months later the children are still living in a tent with little food and water.
That is why he created Allowing Christ To Shine.
The organization will purchase land In Haiti and build a medical clinic, school, church and shelter for an orphanage and a dormitory for mission groups to stay. There will be agriculture and skill training for the Haiti community.
To register for the fundraiser, mail entry forms and checks to Allowing Christ To Shine, P.O. Box 841, Warsaw, IN 46581, or people can register the day of the event.
