Alcohol Permit Must Be Used To Remain Active, Excise Officer Says

For the past year, Raceway Steakhouse, Ind. 13, Pierceton, has had its beer and wine and Sunday sales retailer permits in and out of escrow.

Thursday at the Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission meeting, Indiana excise officer Patty Fleck told business owner James Ousley if the business is not up and running before June 6, the permit will not be renewed. She said if Ousley can't make use of the permit, another business could.

"It's been too long" out of use, she said.

She continued the renewal for the petition to next month's meeting. Fleck also told Ousley he will need a new final inspection before the meeting next month because the business has been closed down for so long.

Ousley said the business has been shut down because of business problems and remodeling.

"I'm giving you an opportunity to get this business up and running and this is your final opportunity," Fleck said.
