Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
AkzoNobel employees, with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, planted two Autumn Blaze Maple trees at Pike Lake Friday for Arbor Day.
Newanna Moore, management team member at AkzoNobel, said they started planting trees at Pike Lake three or four years and they’ve been continuing to do so ever since.
“We want to be able to help the community. We want to be able to whatever we can, you know,” she said, adding there was a contest where kids could paint pictures that were made into T-shirts.
AkzoNobel also handed out trees to employees for them to plant.
“I think that it promotes our future. We’re planting something now that can last for later,” she said.
She said planting the trees helps Pike Lake and the community by helping to prevent erosion around the lake.
