Posted
A man accused of plotting to hire someone to kill seven people, including the Fulton County prosecutor and a Rochester police officer, is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.

Ronald Lambert Jr., 43, of 2097 S. CR 700E, Akron, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday after being transported from the Fulton County Jail.Lambert was put into protective custody and transported to the Kosciusko County Jail from the Fulton County Jail yesterday. Since the charges Lambert faces involve officials in Fulton County, he was transferred to Kosciusko County. Lambert does not face any charges in Kosciusko County.

Lambert is accused of hatching a plan to pay for the murders of Fulton County Prosecutor Rick Brown, Rochester Police Officer Andrew Schotts, Kira Schotts (Andrew's wife), Fulton County Jail Commander Jeff Berlasty, Fulton County Jail Matron Jenny Berlasty, Fulton Superior Court Judge Wayne Steele as well as Lambert's attorney, Holli Shorter-Pifer.

Lambert was an inmate in the Fulton County Jail awaiting sentencing on a charge of felony non-support when he sent a letter to another inmate saying he wanted to kill the seven people. Lambert wanted to pay for the murders with four pounds of marijuana.

Police looked into the letter and put Lambert in touch with an undercover officer from another county who posed as a person willing to perform the killings.

Lambert and the undercover officer worked out a deal to kill Brown in exchange for the marijuana, and to kill Schotts for money that would be delivered after Lambert was released from jail.

Lambert now faces two counts of attempted murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, all Class A felonies.
