Airport To Sell Aero Charts

Posted
The Board of Aviation Commisioners met Monday and approved Airport Manager David Beall's request to become an agent for aeronautical chart sales.

Beall said that the charts are no longer sold locally and he has received several requests from people flying in and out of the airport for them.Aeronautical charts are required charts used for plotting out flight routes.

Board member Bob Sanders was receptive to the idea.

"For me it's not about being a money maker it's about convenience," said Sanders.

The cost of the charts will be $5.20 apiece to the airport. The agreement from the FAA, which releases the charts, is that they must sell at least $500 worth a year.

The general consensus was that it was a worthwhile venture to take on.

"Give it a whirl," said Board President Jay Rigdon. "If it works out, it works out."

The board also reviewed the fuel usage report for September.

Beall said usage is down though the prices for fuel are cheaper than bigger airports in the region and on par with similarly sized airports.

The board also agreed to a rental agreement with James Ousley and a land lease with William Stoer.

Both agreements' costs were standard airport agreements.

Ousley will pay $150 per month for a hangar as will Stofer for the land lease.

The board also approved the minutes from the Sept. 9 meeting and approved September claims.

Board member Gene Zale was not present at the meeting.
