Warsaw Municipal Airport had its most profitable month of the year in October, the board of aviation commissioners was told Tuesday.
According to airport manager David Beall, the airport made almost $50,000 from fuel sales, the airport's main source of income, in October. The facility sells jet fuel and unleaded aviation fuel.
The board also voted to give airport user Tony Miller until Nov. 22 to sign a lease with the board. Miller had originally asked for a lease of $1,100 per month on hangar 12, and the board approved the lease in October.
However, at Tuesday's meeting, Miller's attorney, Steve Snyder, asked to change two provisions in the lease - to make it a one-year lease and to allow Miller to terminate the lease with 30-days' notice.
"Why should we do this for him and not for everybody else?" board member Jay Rigdon asked.
Snyder said the changes are tied to a request Miller intends to make next month to establish a fixed-base operation, which provides various aviation services. Miller had previously announced his intentions to establish an FBO, but for fuel sales only, which would put him in competition with the airport.
The board has not yet made a decision on Miller's proposed FBO.
Aviation board members are George White, Jay Rigdon, Gene Zale, Paul Grossnickle and Charles Smith, non-voting city council representative.
