Today’s Air Show of Warsaw schedule offers rides on airplanes, Warbids, helicopters and vintage biplanes. The 1929 New Standard biplane aircraft, brought to the air show by Waldo Wright’s Flying Service, carries up to four passengers for a 15-minute open-cockpit ride. Air show attendees can ride for $60 per passenger with helmets and goggles provided. The air show begins today at 7 a.m. with a balloon launch and balloon rides with breakfast offered until 10 a.m. From 7 a.m. to noon, there will be airplane, biplane, Warbird, helicopter and balloon rides offered. At noon, the air show will offer a parachute demonstration featuring a parachutist with a flag and a jump demo. World War II Navy pilot Dr. Paul Grossnickle will participate in a flight honoring veterans. Starting at 12:40 p.m., the C4 “Spirit of Freedom” candy bomber will parachute drop chocolate bars for the crowd. Flight demonstrations will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. with a jet review following from 3 to 4 p.m. More airplane and helicopter rides will be offered from 3:30 to 6 p.m., and the show will end with a concert by the band Pickslide and a beer garden. Admittance to the air show is free, though the event asks for a $5 parking donation. Sunday is scheduled as a rain date for the festivities.
