Air Board OKs Sale of Fussle's Former Hangar

The Board of Aviation Commissioners  voted Tuesday to allow Winona Lake resident Brent Wildman to purchase the hangar vacated by Jon Fussle.
Fussle vacated the hangar last month following the breach of a promissory note holding him responsible for repaying just over $7,000 in debt to the airport.  According to Airport Manager Nick King, the Warsaw Flying Club accrued the debt after a client refused to pay the club for fuel it had purchased from the airport for the client’s aircraft.
The board drafted a promissory note under which the club would be legally responsible for paying approximately $488 per month for 17 months until the account is brought current. Fussle signed the note but failed to make the first installment on time. Because of the breeah, Fussle’s land lease with the airport was terminated.
Wildman said he plans to rent time in the hangar that’s now in his name to third parties, including Fussle. According to the board, should Fussle make use of Wildman’s hangar, he will have to meet all airport standards in order to operate an aircraft out of airport property.
