Accused Cocaine Dealer Faces 12-40 Years

Posted
Nearly seven months after Eddie Harmon allegedly sold cocaine to a confidential informant hired by the Indiana State Police, he was in court this morning.

Harmon, 31, South Bend, was initially charged with  two counts of dealing cocaine, a Class B felony. He faces 12 to 40 years in prison if convicted of both counts.

In the probable cause affidavit filed Jan. 10, it alleges that Harmon was contacted by a confidential informant on July 25 to set up a buy. The informant arranged to buy 3.5 grams of cocaine in the parking lot of the Time Out Inn, 1701 Lake St., Warsaw. A state trooper drove the informant to the parking lot of the Time Out Inn and the informant met Harmon in his maroon Buick.

The informant was wearing an audio video recorder for the purposes of recording the buy. The informant was given $200 to buy the cocaine. The trooper heard the informant give Harmon the $200 and Harmon asked if it was all there. The informant indicated that it was and then Harmon handed the informant the cocaine.

When law enforcement tested the cocaine, it was positive for cocaine and it weighed in at 2.11 grams.

The second buy was July 26 in the 400 block of South Buffalo Street.

An informant arranged a buy for 3.5 grams of cocaine. A trooper drove an informant to the buy site and instructed the informant to call Harmon and inform him they were at the site. Harmon arrived in a maroon-colored Buick and the informant walked over to meet Harmon.

Harmon told the informant to grab the plastic bag in the map pocket and the informant did. The informant left $200 for the cocaine on the seat and left.

The white powder tested positive for cocaine and weighed in at 2.35 grams.

Harmon is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $100,000 bond.
