FORT WAYNE - An Elkhart man injured in a Sunday accident on Old Road 30, near Warsaw, died Thursday from his injuries.
Eusevio Vargas, 23, suffered multiple injuries and was taken by helicopter ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m. Thursday.
Vargas was injured when the vehicle he was driving was struck head-on by another car at 5:06 p.m. Sunday east of the entrance to R.R. Donnelley & Sons.
The driver of the other car, Steven Singleton, 18, of Warsaw, also suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalized at Parkview until his release Thursday morning.
Police said Singleton crossed the center line for an unknown reason and his car collided with Vargas' car. Vargas reportedly tested positive for alcohol in his bloodstream, but an exact level has not yet been released.
Two passengers in Vargas' car also were injured in the accident. Manuel Salazar, 26, of Warsaw, was released from Parkview on Tuesday, and Ricardo Flores, 29, Elkhart, has been upgraded from serious to fair condition at Parkview.
