ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed three people were killed Wednesday in a crash on Interstate 94 just east of Alexandria, Minn.

Another victim is reportedly in critical condition. The four were on their way to Mentone for a Christmas gathering.

According to the State Patrol, the crash occurred at about 9 a.m. Wednesday. Thomas Martin, 58, of Fergus Falls, Minn., was merging his 2007 Toyota Corolla onto the freeway when he hit an icy spot and spun out of control, ending up in the median.

The driver of a 2006 Peterbilt semi, Darrell Albertson, 69, of Fergus Falls, pulled over into the eastbound shoulder in an effort to assist Martin.

Meanwhile, Samuel Dunnuck, 15, of West Fargo, N.D., lost control of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer, slid sideways and hit the rear of the semi. The impact caused the Trailblazer to cross a traffic lane and collide with the Corolla.

Dunnuck, his father, Thomas Dunnuck, 48, and his brother, 12-year-old Gabriel Dunnuck, were all killed. Another passenger in Dunnuck's vehicle, 9-year-old Anna Dunnuck, was transferred to St. Cloud Hospital. She was listed in critical condition Thursday.

Thomas Dunnuck was a 1978 Tippecanoe Valley High School graduate. He and his children were traveling to Mentone to visit family and friends for the Christmas holiday.
