Abbs Seeking Seat On Syracuse Town Council

Posted

SYRACUSE - One of the four candidates for the two Syracuse Town Council at-large seats declared his candidacy Wednesday night.
In his announcement, Gregory Scott Abbs stated, “I am officially declaring my candidacy for the Syracuse Town Council. Growing up in Syracuse and currently raising my own family here, I have a deep personal commitment to supporting the voice of Syracuse residents, pursing decisions that strengthen our community today and for years to come. If elected, I plan to actively listen to resident concerns, consider how decisions impact all Syracuse residents today and in the future, promote plans that protect our lakes and green space, support local business, promote fiscal responsibility and transparency, and support plans that put our Syracuse community residents first.”
He thanked current Syracuse Town Council at-large member Larry Siegel for his support, as well as Siegel’s time and dedication to Syracuse Town Council for the past 24 years. “I appreciate your time and consideration, hopeful I can serve as your voice on the Syracuse Town Council,” Abbs stated.
Monday night, Siegel withdrew his name for re-election to the town council and endorsed Abbs. As longtime Councilman Paul Stoelting also is not seeking re-election this year, both at-large seats are up for grabs.
Others who have filed for the positions, as of Thursday, include Republicans Matthew Goodnight, Brandon Wolferman and David Rosenberry and Democrat Yesenia “Jessie” Vetor.

Candidate filing began Jan. 7 and ends at noon Friday, Feb. 6.
