Six women were nominated for the Our Lady of Kosciusko County title and six were presented crowns and flowers.
The sixth annual contest has taken a different focus, said Ami Pitt Thursday. She is the activity tent coordinator at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair.
"This was originally Becky Thomas' idea," said Pitt. Thomas is a former fair board secretary. "She thought we should recognize and honor older women for contributions to their families and communities with a queen contest."
Pitt said when one woman was chosen something was taken away from the other women and last year a decision to "crown" all the women was made.
During the event, the current fair queen and attendants read from letters of nomination sent by family and friends.
From this year's 2004 Kosciusko County Fair Queen contest were: Megan Davis, queen; Allison Scherer, first runner-up; and Litasha Blair, Miss Congeniality.
The women recognized were:
Margret Stutzman, Warsaw, nominated by Shirley Petro, Warsaw;
Miriam McKeefrey Uphouse, Winona Lake, nominated by Terry and Sharon White, Winona Lake;
Irene Golden, nominated by Lora Golden;
Beth Stephens, Palestine, nominated by Jamie Pritchett, Mentone, and Adam Goshert, Warsaw;
Emma Reffitt, nominated by Ami Pitt; and
Dottie Baker, Warsaw, nominated by Tracy Lambert, Winona Lake, and Trina Johnson, Pierceton.
