$550 Worth of Items Stolen from Homestead Locker

After Homestead’s 67-65 victory over Warsaw, some of the Homestead basketball players reported missing items from their lockers.

Homestead coach Chris Johnson told Warsaw Police Department officers and Warsaw Athletic Director Dave Anson after the varsity game that some of his players had items stolen from their lockers.

Johnson told officers that he and the team saw a young male, wearing a Warsaw letterman’s jacket, take off running from their locker room. The young man wearing the jacket supposedly stole three iPods: two iPod Nanos and an 8-gigabyte iPod Touch with a total value of $550.

Sgt. Dave Morales, the student resource officer at Warsaw Community High School, said it is all under investigation at the moment.

There is a suspect, but law enforcement is not completely sure if he is the one who committed the crime.

“If the person who did this is of age, then there will be charges filed and they will go through the court system,” Morales said.

Morales was surprised by what happened after the game, saying that it is very rare and that it just happened out of the blue.

“It is definitely upsetting that this happened,” Morales said. “We will follow each and every lead in this case until we figure it out.”
