Cloudy skies Wednesday never delivered their threat of rain, and the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair continued without interruption.
4-H members who already showed their larger animals loaded up the animals they wouldn't be including in Friday's auction and took them home to cooler environments.
Fair crowds Tuesday and Wednesday were bigger than even organizers expected, and fair officials today attributed that to the weather, the cleanliness of the grounds and the number of activities.
"There's always something going on here," they said today.
Several of today's activities revolve around the theme for the day, "Farmers' and Senior Citizens' Day."
Admission until 3 p.m. is $1 for those age 65 and older, and today is wristband day for all rides, with a $13 wristband gaining admission to all rides until 11 p.m.
One of the biggest 4-H contests at the fair also takes place today - the supreme showmanship contest in the Show Arena from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Friday in 4-H, the horse and pony competitions continue at 9 a.m. in the Horse Arena and, the day all 4-Hers wait for - the auction - will take place most of the day Friday in the Show Arena.
While 4-H exhibits will still be on display in the Shrine Building, most of the 4-H activities will be wrapped up by Friday night.
One of the largest fair attractions, the demolition derby, begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the grandstand, and for those who prefer more subdued entertainment, Christopher Green, deaf musician, will be in the Activity Tent.
Saturday is "Truckers' Day" at the fair, and the Semi Truck Show and Shine registration starts at noon, with the show beginning in the grandstand at 6 p.m.
Saturday is wristband day from 1 to 6 p.m. for $10. The "Country Gamblers" entertain in the Activity Tent at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., the hog calling contest is at 2 p.m. in the Activity Tent, and the "Country Jam" concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Tent.
Sunday, the last day of the fair, is "Family Day" at the fair, with family admission of $1 per family member and kids under age 10 free.
Sunday's gospel sing and worship service begins in the Activity Tent at 9 a.m., and the antique tractor pull in the grandstand at the same time.
Rides open on the midway at 1 p.m., and Sunday is wristband day for $13 from 1 to 10 p.m.
Other Sunday activities include a paper airplane flying contest, family activities and games, free entertainment, a mud bog exhibition, an illusionist, the end-of-the-fair drawing and karaoke.
