Staff Report-
With the busy holiday season right around the corner, Kosciusko County residents, as well as those in surrounding counties, are asked to set aside a couple of hours in December to participate in an important evening.
The Meth Awareness Partnership in Kosciusko County is warming up for its next workshop, "Meth: Killing a Community Part 2," scheduled for Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Center Lake Pavilion in Warsaw. It is anticipated that this next event will have large numbers of community members and regional visitors in attendance.
The group recently met to confirm their panel of presenters for the workshop. Updated presentations will be given by the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force as well as the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Unit.
The panel will include those whose lives have been hurt by meth addiction, law enforcement personnel, representatives from neighboring counties, the coroner, recovery professionals, experts in the medical and dental profession, a landlord who has experienced costly meth lab clean ups in their rental units and children's services. A large part of the evening is devoted to a question-and-answer period, and audience members are encouraged to participate.
There are several updates to share with the public including the formation of a new support group for the families of meth addicts called Mothers Against Meth Addiction. The group will hold its kick-off meeting on the first Saturday morning following the workshop. More information will be available that evening.
