It’s not a fairy tale to say the 2026 Warsaw Community High School Homecoming Parade brought out hundreds of children and adults Friday afternoon.
Along both sides of the streets in downtown Warsaw, community members came out to support the Tigers, as well as let their munchkins grab as much candy as they could get their hands on before the Wicked Witch could stop them.
The theme for this year’s parade was fairy tales, and the stories represented included “Snow White,” “The Odyssey,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Three Little Pigs,” “The Little Mermaid” and others.
The parade started with a police escort and the WCHS JROTC with the American flag. It included the homecoming court; floats representing clubs, activities and athletic teams; emergency services; and the grand marshal, Steve Waldeck.
Waldeck recently retired from Warsaw Community Schools after 42 years of service teaching computer programming, web design and business management. He helped and inspired countless students throughout their time at WCHS, according to a previously provided news release.
The parade started at the WCHS Performing Arts Center parking lot and weaved its way down Union Street, right onto Market Street, then on Indiana Street, on to Main Street and ending at Lake Street.
Following the parade, the WCHS Tigers battled Goshen at Fisher Field for the homecoming football game. The homecoming court was scheduled to be recognized at half time.
