Warsaw’s board of aviation commissioners held their first meeting of the year Tuesday evening. As the first item of business, Mayor Joe Thallemer swore in Jay Rigdon as president of the board. Rigdon continues on as president for another four years. The board also nominated John Yingling to vice president and Paul Grossnickle as secretary. In other items of business, the board approved and signed Task Order 1 amendement 2 of the 2010 general services agreement. The movement is aimed to cover costs for surveying land for the runway extension and designwork for lowering powerlines under prior awarded funds. David Beall, airport manager, reported that 2012 was a bad year for fuel sales. Beall stated he was unsure of an exact cause for the decline but cited restructuring of local corporations’ use of their fleets as a possible cause. The board agreed to put a request to fuel suppliers to see if a more viable option is available. The commissioners meet again on February 12 at 5:15 p.m.
