FORT WAYNE - Two area residents injured in recent traffic accidents remain in critical condition at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. A third person taken to Parkview was later released.

Zak G. Hoffer, 11, of East Northwinds Drive, Warsaw, was injured in an Aug. 20 accident near his home. Family members said reports that the boy was comatose were inaccurate. He does, however, remain in critical condition with a head injury suffered when his BMX bicycle entered the roadway and he was struck by a car at the intersection of CR 100E and Deer Run.

Kristina Smith, 21, of East CR 350S, Pierceton, also suffered a head injury and is in critical condition at Parkview. She was a passenger in a car driven by Patrick Robinson, 18, of Syracuse, when he reportedly disregarded a stop sign and his car was struck by a pickup in the intersection of CR 1400N and East Wawasee Drive.

Curtis Valentine, 17, of East Asbury Lane, North Webster, was injured Wednesday morning when his car left Hoss Hill Road and hit a tree. He suffered a head injury and was airlifted to Parkview, from which he was released later that day.
