NORTH MANCHESTER - Two North Manchester girls are in a Fort Wayne hospital after a Saturday morning all-terrain vehicle accident.
According to Conservation Officer Jon Engle, around 11 a.m. Saturday, Maci Callow, 12, and Baily Michel, 9, both of CR 900N, North Manchester, were riding ATVs when their vehicles collided head-on.
The accident occurred on a straight open trail near their home.
Both girls were airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where Callow is listed in critical condition and Michel is listed in serious but stable condition.
Two passengers on the the ATVs suffered only minor cuts and bruises.
None of the riders involved were wearing helmets.The accident remains under investigation.
The Wabash County Sheriff's Department, Life Med Ambulance Service, Chester Township Fire Department and Lutheran Air Ambulance assisted at the scene.
