Two Wabash residents were arrested on drug-related charges Monday after an anonymous tip led Warsaw Police to their vehicle.
According to a press release from the Warsaw Police Department, at approximately 2 p.m. Monday, Warsaw police made a traffic stop on a Pontiac Grand Prix in the 300 block of South Detroit Street after receiving an anonymous tip that the vehicle occupants were transporting heroin to sell in both Kosciusko and Wabash counties.
A police canine alerted officers to the presence of illegal drugs. Eighteen individual bags of heroin, weighing a total of approximately 8 grams, were recovered from Meagan A. Martens, the release states.
Narcotics officers took Martens, 24, Wabash, into custody and booked her into the Kosciusko County Jail on a Class B felony charge of dealing in a schedule I controlled substance (heroin), and possession of a schedule I controlled substance. She was being held with no bond.
Martens’ boyfriend, Douglas B. Jordan, 26, also of Wabash, was booked for dealing in a schedule I controlled substance (heroin), a Class B felony, and held with no bond.
Narcotics officers indicate that Martens and Jordan were significant suppliers of heroin in the Kosciusko and Wabash County areas, according to the release.
Warsaw Police and Warsaw Narcotics Officers were assisted in their investigation by the Wabash County Drug Task Force and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The release states, “Warsaw Police continue to diligently work to reduce the influence of illegal drug activity in our community. Any drug tips can be called into the Warsaw Police Department at 574-372-9540.”
