Fourteen minors were charged Sunday night after police raided an alleged underage drinking party in Warsaw's Shady Crest Addition.
A Warsaw police officer patrolling the subdivision shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday was reportedly stopped by two concerned citizens who said that a party had been going on at the Windsor Way residence for about 1-1/2 days and it was believed that the adult residents were out of town.
Warsaw and Winona Lake police officers went to the residence and used their squad cars to block the roadway and prevent anyone from driving away. As they approached the house, two teens were reportedly coming out of the house and were called over to where the officers were gathering. The two reportedly smelled of alcohol and were asked to accompany police back into the home.
Once inside, police saw only a couple of people and said that anyone who was hiding should come out to avoid further problems. The minors then came forward and all but two admitted drinking while at the residence. Portable breath tests were given to everyone present and only the two who denied drinking tested negative for alcohol consumption. All of the others were charged with illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor. Charges are pending against the adult who allegedly purchased the alcohol for the minors. The adult was not present at the time police arrived. A small keg of beer was confiscated from the residence.

Charged and released to the custody of a parent or responsible adult were:
• Rory Evan Shaffer, 17, of 442 S. CR 325E, Warsaw;
• Joshua Polk, 17, of 2990 W. CR 600N, Leesburg;
• Jason Paul Miller, 17, of 2380 N. CR 250W, Milford;
• Juanita Marie Leal, 17, of 1304 Windsor Way, Warsaw;
• Lesley Ann Daniels, 18, of 2704 Huffman St., Winona Lake;
• Patrick James Riley, 17, of 2743 Ivywood Drive, Warsaw;
• Jessica Monique Lieffring, 16, of 50 Little Eagle Drive, Warsaw;
• Michelle Lynn Delamater, 17 of 413 E. Lynnwood Drive, Warsaw; and
• Ryan Dean Schlotterback, 17, of 67 EMS T32C Lane, Leesburg.
Assisting with transporting those taken into custody were personnel from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department and Multi-Township Emergency Medical Service.
