More than 120 units participated in the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair parade Sunday. Organizer and fair board member Frank Rhoades said the crowds were great, with pedestrians lining the sidewalks and boaters coming closer to shore to view the lengthy procession.

The parade began at Rodeheaver Auditorium in Winona Lake and ended in Warsaw at the fairgrounds grandstands.

"We were thankful for the overcast skies," Rhoades said of the day as temperatures reached the 90-degree mark.

Judges were Bruce Howe, Suzie Light and Charlie Adams.

At the judges' review stand near the Boathouse Restaurant, Susan Derr sang the national anthem as the local National Guard presented colors.

Joyce Bledsoe won the equestrian unit entry; Junior Neighbors 4-H Club won the best of theme and was second in the 4-H float category; the 4-H Horse and Pony Club received first place in the 4-H float category.

Noah Shriver took first-place float honors; Doc Fuson, first-place antique vehicle; Kosciusko Mini Bike Club won the club category; and Kosciusko Community Hospital took first place for their walking unit.

Rhoades said the parade received tremendous assistance from many volunteers and the Winona Lake administrative staff.
