One man was hospitalized and one man jailed after a Saturday evening boating accident on Big Barbee Lake.
Tyler L. Carp, 28, of Lorain, Ohio, suffered a broken leg and deep cuts to his foot and leg after he fell from and was run over by the boat on which he was riding. He was admitted to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, where he underwent surgery. A condition report was not available today.
According to a report from the Department of Natural Resources, Carp was sitting on the front of a pontoon boat when the waves caught his feet and he fell into the water.
The driver of the boat, Gregory Douglas Kinder, 24, of Wakeman, Ohio, reportedly had a blood-alcohol level of .11 percent after the 5 p.m. accident. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a charge of operating a watercraft while intoxicated and was later released after posting $500 bond.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputy noted in his report that there were open containers of alcohol on the boat and that Kinder had an odor of alcohol about him.
