Louise Peffley, 94, Warsaw, passed away at 5:38 a.m. Nov. 21, 2016, in Grace Village.  Arrangements are pending at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Lloyd R. Landis, 90, Warsaw, died at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 20, 2016, in his residence. Arrangements are pending with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.  

Della P. Davis, 107, died at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 17, 2016, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester. She was born July 17, 1909, in Towner County, N.D., to William and Maude Miller Deardorff. On Sept. 7, 1930, she married the Rev. Walter F. Davis, who died Feb. 19, 1999.

Paula Jane Sydow, 67, Fort Wayne, formerly of Warsaw and Valparaiso, passed away at 10:58 a.m. Nov. 17, 2016, at Luthern Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born May 23, 1949, in Michigan City, to Harold  and Angeline Widelski Putz. On May 23, 1970, in Michigan City, she married Larry Sydow, who survives in Fort Wayne. She graduated from Michigan?City Elston High School in 1968, and was a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America. She and her husband owned Sydow Antique Shop, Pierceton, and formerly in Valparaiso. She loved to cross stitch and enjoyed gardening. She loved animals and was a canary breeder; at one time she had 80 canaries. A positive influence to all, she was always joyful, caring and selfless. She was a living example of unconditional love.

 Michael A. "Mike" Baumgartner, 67, Syracuse, passed away Nov. 16, 2016, at his home.  He was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Goshen, to Richard Earl and Marjorie J. Miller Baumgartner.  He graduated in 1967 from New Paris High School and was a United States Navy veteran. He grew up in Syracuse and lived in Alaska and Oregon for several years before returning to the Syracuse area in the 1990s. He was formerly employed with a logging company in Alaska for 20-plus years and Sudlow Pier Shop in Syracuse for eight years. He was a former member of American Legion Post 223, Syracuse. He is survived by a sister, Judy (spouse Dennis) Sharp, Milford; a brother, Jack Baumgartner, Syracuse; a niece, Marjorie Parker-Slusser; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Cassidy Parker and Kailer Slusser.

Donald G. "Don" Matson, 70, passed away at 11:31 a.m. Nov. 15, 2016, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.  He was born Dec. 28, 1945, in East Chicago, to George and Ann E. Hora Matson. 

 Brent Wells Silveus, 62, passed away from lung cancer on Nov. 8, 2016. In his final hours, he was comforted by his wife, Kimber, at his Denver Hospice bedside. Brent was born in Warsaw on Jan. 16, 1954. He grew up in the family home on Winona Lake.  As a child, he liked to play in the sand pile at the lake side, water ski and spend time outside with neighborhood kids. He had a drum set in the basement, providing a musical outlet that continued into his high school years. 

Kristina Lyn Freant, 42, Talma, died Nov. 15, 2016, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. She was born Feb. 17, 1974, in Plymouth, to Gary and Peggy Irwin Kubley. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. The Rev. Mark Cottrill will officiate, and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

 Michael A. "Mike" Baumgartner, 67, Syracuse, passed away on Nov. 16, 2016, at his home.  Arrangements are pending at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse.  

MENTONE – Kristina L. Freant, 42, Talma, died at 5 p.m. Nov. 15, 2016, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. Arrangements are pending at King Memorial Home, Mentone.

Juanita M. Myers, 100, Decatur, passed away on Nov. 16, 2016, at Adams Woodcrest, where she had been a resident for the past five months. She was born Dec. 11, 1915, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Thompson R. Noll and the late Allie M. Bender Noll. She married James M. Myers on May 4, 1940, in Pendleton, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2002.  She was a member of Bethel Brethren Church in Berne and the G.E. Women's Club in Decatur. She was a graduate of Decatur High School in 1933 and retired in 1978 from General Electric, Decatur, with 20 years of service.  Survivors include two daughters, Beverly J. (spouse Roger) Gaunt, Decatur, and Judith A. (spouse Ronnie) Frank,  Monroe; a son, David E. (spouse Brenda) Myers, Decatur; and two brothers, Tom (spouse Shirley) Noll and Robert Noll, both of Decatur. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Rebecca Ward, Suzette Benzinger, Jolene Wynn, Jeffrey Myers and Tim Myers; 15 great-grandchildren: James Ward, Rachel Franco, Jordan Ward, Zachary Stine, Alexis Stine, Hannah Stine, Danielle Stine, Nathan Wynn, Megan Wynn, Brandon Wynn, Kristen Wynn, Madalynn Myers, Lilly Myers, Duke Myers and Gabe Myers; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Zachary Benzinger. Preceding her were a son, Edward Lee Myers; a grandson, Kerry Lee Frank; two brothers, Richard and Carl Noll; and three sisters: Eloise Noll, Mary Neireiter and Patricia Sipe.

Eli D. Borkholder, 77, Bremen, died at 7:25 a.m. Nov. 13, 2016, at Community Hospital of Bremen.  He was born June 22, 1939, in Marshall County, to Daniel and Emma Coblentz Borkholder. On April 23, 1964, in Nappanee, he married Velma Stutzman, who survives.

ROCHESTER – David W. Biltz, 51, Rochester, died at 11:53 p.m. Nov. 13, 2016.  Arrangements are pending at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.

Judge Reinhardt "Rick" Korte died at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis, Nov. 11, 2016.  He was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War.

Wayne E. Roe, 91, Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he departed this life at 2:34 p.m. Nov. 12, 2016, at Hickory Creek of Rochester. He was born May 20, 1925, in Jonesboro, to Oral Everett and Nellie Stone Roe. On Dec. 7, 1946, in Jonesboro, he married Barbara Lou Brewer.

Betty L. Denny, 90, Warsaw, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Nov. 12, 2016, in her residence. She was born Nov. 28, 1925, in Nappanee, to Roy and Opal Richmond Longfield. 

Adalin Paige Stamper, 2, Warsaw, passed away at 5 a.m. Nov. 11, 2016, in Warsaw. On June 19, 2014, she was born to Katie Stamper and Jason Collins.

COLUMBIA CITY – Isabelle Jane Fuller, 86, Columbia City, passed away at 4:29 a.m. Nov. 12, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.  Born May 17, 1930, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of James and Zella Betzner Wolfe. She graduated from Coesse School in 1948. She had been a hard worker on the family farm in Union Township and also had worked at Warsaw Community Schools part time. She was a member and helped found St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Warsaw, where she enjoyed her Bible study group and attended Zion Lutheran Church with her daughter. 

 Hilda S. Earnhart, 98, Syracuse, formerly of Pierceton, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.  She was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Wilmot, to John William and Sadie C. Beezley Scott. She was married on May 12, 1941, in Pierceton, to Hollis F. Earnhart, who preceded her on July 28, 1983. 

Wendell G. “Tony” LaFevor, 78, Warsaw, died Nov. 8, 2016, at his home.  He was born Dec. 13, 1937, in Fort Wayne, to Louis and Laura Fritz LaFevor.  Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Kathryn Betz, 92, died Nov. 10, 2016, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, where she had resided the last five years.

Roy L. Jeffers, 89, Mentone, died at 12:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at Mason Health Care of Warsaw.

Marion Ray Acton, 87, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, entered the Kingdom at 4:53 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016.

Charles Ramseier, 87, Warsaw, died at 6:04 p.m. Nov. 10, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor,?Warsaw.
