Opal Plummer, 92, Warsaw, passed away at 2:06 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, assisted by Great Lakes Hospice. She was born June 23, 1925, to Wilburn and Katie Shepherd. She was a bank teller prior to attending college in elementary education. In 1945 she married Homer Salyer, who preceded her, and had seven children. In 1972 she was united in marriage to John Plummer, who preceded her, and they relocated to Arizona, where she retired at the age of 67 from the state of Arizona. At 75 she became a certified massage therapist and practiced for a couple of years.
Richard Vesley Wilson, Warsaw, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, at the age of 31 from injuries suffered in a kayaking accident. He was born April 11, 1986, in Goshen, to Nancy Louise Wood and David Patrick Wilson. Richard was a 2004 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and attended Ball State University. He was self-employed and worked in sales for The Car Company. He loved nature and sports, such as snowboarding, surfing and football — anything outdoors. Richard loved dancing, enjoyed music and played many instruments. His favorites were drums, guitar and harmonica — he was just full of endless talent. Richard threw himself into life with a beautiful smile and he always included everybody with his loving heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Nancy and David Wilson, Syracuse; the love of his life, his fiancée, Michelle Christine Sands, Warsaw; his twin sister, Erika Kathleen Wilson, Indianapolis, and his beloved sisters: Stephanie Mary Wilson (fiancé Ricco Diamanté), Fort Wayne; Christina (husband Ryan) Warrington, North Carolina; and Natalie Danae Wilson, Indianapolis. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Dona Wilson, Cleveland, Ohio. He adored being an uncle to Carter and Quinn Warrington and Ramiro Diamanté, and held his family as precious treasures, including many aunts, uncles and cousins. He never knew a stranger and was lucky to share the love of many friends. NAPPANEE — June M. Stouder, 90, Nappanee, passed away at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at North Wood Village, Mishawaka, where she had resided for a year. June was born June 21, 1927, in Nappanee, to Edward and Katie (Yertie) Tobias. On Sept. 25, 1946, she married Kenton “Barney” Stouder. He died Aug. 26, 2012. June had worked for Nappanee Wood Products and Holiday Rambler. Calling is from 2-7 p.m. Friday, June 30, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Kenneth Murl Gunter passed away at 4:21 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, in his Warsaw home. He was 79 years old. Born Feb. 18, 1938, in Columbia City, Kenneth was the son of Elmer and Thelda May Wise Gunter. He was a 1956 graduate of Claypool High School. Kenneth was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam. More personally, he loved to fish and liked fixing up rental properties. Kenneth and Mary Susanne Hall were united in marriage Nov. 11, 1997, in Monterey, Calif. She survives in Warsaw. Additional survivors include his stepson, Jhonathan (Stella) Seitner, Silver Lake; three brothers: Richard Gunter, Warsaw; Marvin (Judy) Gunter, Warsaw; and Herbert (Jeannie) Gunter, North Manchester. Preceding him in death were three siblings: sister Eva Gunter and brothers Donny Gunter and Gordon Gunter. Kenneth will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Claypool, with a graveside service beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, June 30. The Rev. Dave Hummel will officiate the service, with military graveside honors conducted by members of Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126. She was born March 4, 1938, in Troy, Ohio, to Alice Faye Brandt and Robert Foster McBride. On July 6, 1963, she was married to James Harrison Nesbitt, who survives in Winona Lake.
Robert Allen Gill, 92, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017, at his home in San Jose, Calif. On Sept. 20, 1924, Robert was born and raised in Warsaw. He graduated from Warsaw High School. In 1943 he entered World War II as a Navy enrollee. After his honorable discharge he attended and graduated from Purdue University. Robert worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin (California) and retired after 28 years.

Gertrude Mae Webb Alt, 93, of Kouts, went to join her husband, Willis Alt, in heaven on June 24, 2017. She was born in Knox, on Dec. 6, 1923, to Charles and Evaline Webb. She and Willis were married on Feb. 14, 1942. Known by friends as "Gertie," she and Willis raised their family on a grain and livestock farm. They strongly encouraged their children to continue their education and all graduated with college degrees.

Juanita B. Miller Allen, 86, of Leesburg, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 11:33 p.m. in Goshen Hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Leesburg, to C. Maxwell and Hazel Starner Miller. She graduated salutatorian from Leesburg High School in 1948. She married Richard A. “Dick” Allen on June 12, 1949. He preceded her in death Oct. 28, 2014, after 65 years of marriage.
Mary Fisher, 92, Syracuse, passed away at her home on Friday, May 5, 2017. She was born June 22, 1924, in Albion, to Frank and Ethel Belt Lemmon. On June 27, 1943, she married Robert Fisher, who preceded her in 1973. She was a lifelong area resident. Mary was a homemaker as well as a dental assistant in Syracuse and Milford.
