BOURBON — Zulema D. Houghton 95, Etna Green, passed away June 18, 2018, in Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Zulema was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Huntington, to Everett Carroll and Eleanora Lucille Wilcox Carroll. She has been a resident of Etna Green most of her life.
Zulema and her husband, Ralph, were greatly involved in organizing the Etna Green Fourth of July celebrations.
She worked in Plymouth for a few years making crystals for walkie-talkies during the war. She was a bookkeeper at Pyramid Oil Co., Etna Green, the remainder of her working career.
She and her husband were members of Etna Green United Methodist Church, Senior ONO of Etna Green and formerly the Order of the Eastern Star, and she was a 1940 graduate of Etna Green High School.
She was an avid artist with artwork. She was a quilter and a sewer.
On Aug. 20, 1943, she married the love of her life, Ralph E. Houghton. He preceded in death Sept. 24, 2013.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dianna (Mrs. Dean) Holdeman, Bremen, and Connie Armey, Warsaw; and her son, Rick (Delia) Houghton, Paw Paw, Mich. Also surviving are children of Dianna and Dean: Lori, Tammy, Christopher, Cheri and Tara; children of Connie: Michelle, Melissa, Scott, Kristy, Kimberly and Kayla; and children of Rick and Delia: Steven, Amy, Rebecca and Mark. Also surviving are the spouses of the grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with her special cats, Chloe and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Lamoine Carroll.
No services are planned. Zulema will be placed with her husband Ralph in Etna Green cemetery.
